Endorse knowledge: Each one of us is aware of it but how to find out the perfect way to encourage it? Allow the kids to take their own decisions and even if they falter, relax. This practice allows the players to become more resourceful even as they enjoy the whole process.
Name the teams: Divide the groups into small teams which allow you to better coordinate the affairs. Along with that, name the teams to instill a sense of belongingness.
Evaluate failures and success: Define the standards against which the performance would be measured to coach youth soccer. One of the yardsticks could be an observation of whether the kids are having fun in training sessions. Check whether the kids are actually enjoying or just playing. Are they effectively picking up techniques of controlling, dribbling, and passing the ball?
Give incentives: These keep the kids going and even the advanced players, for that matter. Now, these need not be substantive incentives. For example, the team that wins gets a half hour rest or gets to go half-hour early and so on. Also, never give individual rewards. It is not feasible in a game like soccer where some players are better than others. Instead reward team effort.
Managing bad behaviour: While teaching soccer, this part can prove to be disastrous for the entire team if not handled in time. Like never ignore a player who fails to reach in time for practice sessions. Send everyone in the team a message by reprimanding him with a simple punishment.
Likewise, the parents who have the habit of getting in the way of team’s events must also be taken care of. Don’t let it happen and give clear instructions. Take charge of the team by making all important decisions. Still, it’s important for the team to have parent’s contribution to some extent.
Lead the team: It is expected from the players to emulate you in anything you do as they see you as their ultimate guide. So keep your conduct in check. Be good and courteous to your colleagues, opposite team, and fellow team members. Get to the sports ground for practice sessions prior to the players. Never criticize the referee or the players when in a practice match.
